Once again we are looking for sponsors, either individuals or businesses, for each of the 18 holes. The money from the sponsors will go directly to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Last year we raised $4800, which I think is a remarkable amount of money considering we did it in about six weeks. Thank you for your generosity – it was a real tribute to Jas.
I hope many of you can join us on Friday, August 16th to celebrate Jas’ life and the game he loved to play!
July 4th will mark the 1st anniversary of Jas’ death and we are planning to spend the evening at Snow Farm Winery. It was one of our favorite places to meet friends and enjoy music in a beautiful setting. The Phil Abair Band is playing that evening. Picnicking begins at 5:00 and the music is from 6:30 – 8:30. I realize it is a holiday, but if you’d like to join us, plan to bring a dish to share and I will provide the wine (and beer, if I can arrange that).
If the weather is bad (remember the torrential rain last year) we will gather at our home on Alexis Drive. Bring a dish and I will provide the drinks.
As many of you know this spring Kara trained to run the Vermont City Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training. The weather on Sunday, May 26th was very cold – in the 40′s with steady rain and wind. Not great conditions for spectators, but good for those running the marathon. Kara’s goal was to be under 4 hours and she crossed the finish line at 3 hours 59 minutes and 12 seconds!
Dan, David and Emily ran the relay along with Emily’s brother Kevin and his girlfriend Xana. Dan ran the 4th leg and as luck would have it caught up to Kara and ran the next 5 miles with her.
Thank you to everyone who supported Kara in her fundraising efforts. Below are some pictures from the day.
We are in the very beginning stages of planning for the 2nd Annual John Pawlusiak Memorial Golf Tournament. This year we will be returning to Kwiniaska golf course in Shelburne, VT. Please mark your calendars for Friday August 16th, more details to follow.
Below is a link to a short slideshow of last year’s golf tournament. Thank you to all who participated; we are looking forward to seeing you all again in August.
John Pawlusiak Memorial Golf Tournament 2012
Hello Friends and Family,
This spring I will be participating in my second Team In Training event, I will be running the Vermont City Marathon on May 26th in memory of my father. In addition to accepting donations, I am also hosting a fundraising event, Strike Out Cancer, a bowling tournament that will take place on Saturday May 4th. Please click on the image above to download the tournament registration form. Below is a link to my fundraising page. Please email me with any questions. Thank you for your support.
I didn’t realize how long it has been since I posted.
January 4th marked Jas’ 6th month anniversary – it was a difficult day.
I wanted to send you pictures of Jas’ memorial that was put in place about a week before Christmas. The inscription on the back of the memorial is from our wedding invitation and his military plaque will be attached just below that. Somehow the government lost the paperwork for the plaque and so it had to be resubmitted – I didn’t want to wait until the plaque was ready in January or February to set the stone.
Ed and I are going to start planning the 2nd annual golf tournament soon. We are hoping to have the tournament in August. I’ll let you know as soon as we set the date.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2013!!
I put together a page with information and pictures of the Jeep for anyone who is interested: http://welovejas.wordpress.com/jas-jeep-for-sale/
Please contact us with any questions.
Wednesday, November 7th is Jas’ birthday. I’m hoping you will take a few minutes to offer a prayer for Jas or do a good deed for someone in his memory.
Today marks 4 months since Jas died …
I also wanted to mention that we have decided to sell Jas’ Jeep. I would love to sell it to someone who knew him, but I realize that may not be able to happen. If by chance you are interested, let me know. David is putting together some information on the 2011 Jeep and I will send that along to you.
My apologies for taking so long to send out this information about the golf tournament. Friday, September 14th was an absolutely beautiful day to play golf. The sun was shining and there was a slight breeze with temperatures in the 80′s.
We had 30 family, friends and businesses contribute to hole sponsorships and raised $4810 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. That was an incredible amount of money considering we only had a little more than six weeks to organize the tournament.
Speaking of organizing – Ed and Collette Desautels worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the tournament meeting with Kara, David and I to discuss the many details involved in organizing this type of event - and Ed coordinated everything with Kwiniaska.
Jordan Meserole, a neighbor and niece of friends, created some beautiful signs for the sponsors. Many golfers commented on how great they looked.
Kara, with help from many friends, organized a delicious array of breakfast treats from muffins to scones and bagels as well as coffee from Starbucks. All the teams enjoyed the breakfast before the tournament and then again as they passed by us on the 18th green.
We had contests for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin for men and women. David won the contest for the Longest Drive — he does have Jas’ genes!! Each golfer received golf balls and tees with the John Pawlusiak Memorial Golf Tournament printed on them. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to planning the 2nd annual for next summer.
Click here to view the tournament program.
I realize the information we sent out about the golf tournament set August 31st as the last day to register to play, but I want you all to know that we are certainly still accepting registrations and will do so right up until the day of the tournament.
Kara received a newsletter today from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and they included information about the tournament – here is the link, if you are interested…

We are doing very well with our sponsors and your/their signs are being designed by a talented young graphic design person named Jordan who happens to live in our neighborhood and is the niece of some dear friends.
Hoping for sunshine on the 14th – I’m expecting Jas to do what he can to make that happen!
